Hungarian Periodicals I Monitor

HVG - weekly newsmagazine. Famous for its twisting-and-turning literary style. Sometimes reading HVG makes you wonder whether you really did spend all that time trying to learn the language or, if you are sure, it makes you ask yourself "Why?"
Magyar Hirlap
Magyar Nemzet - supposedly the newspaper on the side of FIDESZ, the "young democrats" party which was in power before but after March, 2002, became the main opposition.
Napi Gazdasag
Nepszabadsag - formerly the organ of the Hungarian Communist Party. Has made a wildly successful transition: is now not only accepted as a "general interest" newspaper, but is probably the leading representative of that genre in the country.
